In response to the growing need for unity and support, the Victoria West Papua Association was established following the arrival of 43 West Papuan asylum seekers in Victoria. These courageous individuals, fleeing persecution and seeking refuge, soon realised the importance of forming a strong community network.
The association was born out of a deep-seated desire to create a support system that would provide emotional, practical, and cultural assistance to its members. By coming together, they aimed to foster a sense of belonging and connection among West Papuan community members, providing a platform for sharing experiences, challenges, and triumphs.
