Our Story
The Voice of West Papua Radio started in 2010 on 3CR Community Radio. Its goal is to spread awareness about West Papua through radio. The show shares stories, interviews, music and culture from West Papua, highlighting important issues like human rights and freedom. This radio program gives the West Papuan community a voice and helps people around the world understand and support their struggles. We aim to educate, inform, and inspire our listeners, promoting solidarity and support for the West Papuan community, and advocating for a free and independent West Papua
Award
The Voice of West Papua has been honored with prestigious awards for its outstanding contributions to educating the the wider community about West Papua's struggle for self-determination.
In 2019, we received the esteemed 'Connecting Communities' award from 3CR, recognising our dedication to bridging the gap between communities. More recently, in 2024, we were humbled to be voted the winner of the 2024 Media Award. This achievement is a testament to our team's tireless efforts to amplify the voices of the West Papuan people and raise awareness about their plight.
Nomination
In 2024, The Voice of West Papua was honored to be nominated for the prestigious Yarra Community Award. We are deeply grateful for the recognition and the opportunity to share our story with the vibrant and diverse community of Melbourne.
This nomination not only acknowledged our efforts to amplify the voices of the West Papuan people but also provided a platform to connect with and learn from the rich multicultural tapestry of Melbourne. We are humbled b the experience and look forward to continuing our work in promoting cross-cultural understanding and solidarity.
